v a l l e y | 山谷 | shān gǔ

Coronavirus has been driving our hearts crazy, right?!

The news has been alarming with the number of infected people and deaths rising around the world. Also, there is instability in the economy and millions of people have lost jobs.

Our normal response to our struggles is fear. We panic, stockpile and look to find security in our possessions or other people.

But this doesn’t need to be the case. In this Psalm below, David shares the assurance he gets from God when he finds himself in a valley of death.

Wǒ suīrán xíngguò sǐ yīn de shāngǔ, yě bùpà zāoshòu shānghài, yīnwèi nǐ yǔ wǒ tóng zài; nǐ de zhàng nǐ de gān doū ānwèi wǒ.

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me,your rod and your staff,they comfort me.

23:4 | Psalm 23:4

23 Chinese New Version (Simplified) (CNVS)

Psalm 23 English Standard Version (ESV)

The Lord Is My Shepherd

A Psalm of David.

23 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
    He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters.
    He restores my soul.
He leads me in paths of righteousness
    for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
    I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
    your rod and your staff,
    they comfort me. You prepare a table before me
    in the presence of my enemies;
you anoint my head with oil;
    my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
    all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord
    forever.
